The Nestle corporate headquarters in Bryanston, Johannesburg embodies the Nestle proposition of Creating Shared Value. Built on a steeply terraced site the building is located to present a discreet elevation to the high traffic public southern side, while on the northern side the two-storey glazed façade presents panoramic views to be enjoyed by staff and clients.
Terraced gardens are set into the horizontal profile line of the building structure as well as into the gentle slope of the parking lot allowing the building to blend naturally into its surroundings.
The focus on nature and merging the outside and inside is carried through in the large semi-curved cascading garden and water feature leading off of the staff restaurant and canteen. A section of the office space opens up onto a large indoor garden creating the sense of working in a garden.
The open plan offices and large atriums all contribute to creating impressive volumes and enhance ventilation while the skylights allow natural light to filter into the building.
