We are delighted to announce that the interiors done for the head office of WSP in the Knightsbridge office park have become a finalist in the Office Design category of the SBID International Design Awards 2018.
The SBID Awards is regarded as one of the most prestigious accolades in the interior design industry, representing talent and design excellence across all corners of the industry. Each entry undergoes an exclusive two-tier judging process by panels of leading industry experts for both technical content and aesthetic creativity as well as evaluating brief compliance, budget, health & safety, and fit-for-purpose design. WSP was selected by the technical panel of judges in the first stage of the process. The Office Design category is dedicated exclusively to office design. Entries had to reflect how the concept creates a pleasant, efficient workspace that meets the needs of both the client and the employees who work in the space.
About this project
The interior of WSP’s South Africa HQ is based on the company’s culture of collaboration, innovation and centred around worker wellbeing.Following years of expansion, WSP, one of the world’s largest engineering firms, relocated from two separate locations. They were split over three buildings and moved to new headquarters in Bryanston’s upmarket Knightsbridge office park. The relocation brought the team together into a single coherent space with a central atrium visually connecting the various levels. The Boogertman + Partners team was committed to creating an innovative, interactive space that stimulated collaboration and catered to the wellbeing of employees. Thorough occupant surveys and consultation across the company ensured effective change management from a previous cubicle orientated space planning to offer activity based working for maximum flexibility, as well as ensuring occupant ownership of the colours, materials, finishes and furniture. B+P used a biophilic design approach which informed the department-specific aesthetic and arrangement. Aesthetically, the design echo’s natural forms, patterns & textures. Spatially the layout encourages movement, socialisation and collaboration which in turn optimise productivity, increases health and wellbeing, while supporting the company’s corporate culture.
